Ooh, this is nice – a Sydney book launch for a frankie photographer.

If you’ve ever found yourself crushing hard on the photos in frankie, then you might want to shake Carine Thévenau’s hand. She’s one of our regular shutterbugs, and she’s launching a brand new book tomorrow arvo in Sydney. The book might look a little familiar to you, actually; it contains photos that featured in frankie 78. Remember those eerie yet beautiful snaps of Japanese playgrounds in winter? Well, whether you do or you don’t, that’s what this book is all about. And we suspect it’s pretty darn awesome, what with its hardcover and linen cloth spine… ahh, yes. Books. They’re so nice. This one from Carine is called Seasonal Abandonment of Imaginary Worlds, and she’ll be signing copies at the launch tomorrow, from 1pm till 3pm at Bookstore Kinokuniya (Level 2, The Galleries, 500 George Street, Sydney). Sneak a peek at some of the spreads just over here.
