i do day
Let's talk about something that gives us the irrits. Gay marriage, or the lack thereof in Australia. Isn't this the world's biggest no-brainer? I Do Day is today - 24 hours in which to show your support for marriage equality and let our government know Australia's queer folk deserve the right to get wed.
Let's talk about something that gives us the irrits. Gay marriage, or the lack thereof in Australia. Isn't this the world's biggest no-brainer? And yet our political leaders, who presumably have brains, refuse to legislate for it. Well, today is the first (and hopefully last if things change quick enough) I Do Day – 24 hours in which to show your support for marriage equality and let our government know Australia's queer folk deserve the right to get wed. To show your support, you can buy I Do badges from volunteers on the streets of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth; update your facebook status and change your email signature to "I Do", and check out the I Do facebook page and share it with your mates. Want to throw rice at all the gay people you know? That's up to you. Pic from here. PS - Changing the Marriage Act would also mean we don't have to sit through that homophobic line in hetero wedding ceremonies about marriage only being between a man and a woman, and we can all be thankful for that. PPS - If you haven't seen the video to the left yet, check it out for a little inspiration.
