Add some witchy vibes to your nails for the coming winter with a couple of snazzy two-tone nail art designs (and perhaps a little help from Ella Hooper’s new range of nail polishes).
We happen to have a pack of the brand new colours to give away, as well as a copy of Ella’s Venom/New Magic EP and a double pass to one of her shows at Melbourne venue The Gasometer. Woohoo! To win the lot, just email your name and address here and wish with all your might.
TOOLS:
sticky tape
nail polish – two different colours (we’ve used Venom and New Magic by Ella Hooper)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Triangle half moon design
1. Prep your nails for painting. File away any rough edges and shape them as desired. To protect your nails you can use a base coat of your choice.
2. Paint your nails with two coats of your chosen base colour. (We’ve used New Magic.) Let your nails dry completely.
3. Cut a length of sticky tape and use it to mask out the triangle. Press down firmly.
4. Paint your nails using two coats of the alternate colour. This time we’ve used Venom. Again, let it dry completely.
5. Gently remove the tape to reveal your two-tone triangle moon nails! Add a clear coat on top to extend the life of your manicure.
French tip manicure
1. As with the previous design, prep your nails for painting. File away any rough edges and shape them as desired. To protect your nails you can use a base coat of your choice.
2. Paint your nails with two coats of your chosen base colour. This time we’ve used Venom. Let your nails dry completely.
3. Cut a length of sticky tape and use it to mask out the tip, straight across the top of your nail. Press down firmly.
4. Paint the tips using two coats of your alternate colour. Let it dry completely.
5. Gently remove the tape to reveal your two-tone French tips, then pop on a clear top coat to make sure your swish nails last as long as possible.
