diy lazy susan
Make your own turntable food tray; your guests will thank you (and maybe think they’re in a suburban Chinese restaurant from the ’90s).
Before Lazy Susans – aka turntable food trays – were everywhere in suburban Chinese restaurants, they were the ‘on-trend’ item for rich folks in 18th century Britain and America. Apparently, they were a convenient way of replacing “overgarrulous servants” (damn their eyes!), but these days, they’re just a handy way to serve up pizza.
Making your own is a fairly straightforward affair, as Sugar & Cloth’s instructions show, and you can even decorate it with sweet retro stripes. Or, you could collage the heck out of that thing. (Personally, we’d like to create an homage to Susan, the device’s unknown namesake. History may have forgotten you, Susan, but by Jove, we shan’t.)
