Let's get steamy.

We caught up with Amy Ruffle, the rad lass behind Sauna Sessions.

What’s Sauna Sessions? The hottest talk show. Literally! It’s a brand-new interview series where I get some of my favourite Australian comedians in the sauna. As the temperature gets hotter, the questions get harder.

How did a health scare lead to an interview series? When I found out I had two brain tumours (benign! I am OK!) my neurologist prescribed saunas to help reduce the pressure in my head and alleviate my symptoms. I would sauna at my local rec centre and ended up having the most bizarre and fascinating conversations with complete strangers. As people’s temp got higher, their inhibitions got lower, so it felt like the perfect place to host a talk show.

Favourite guest? Nina Oyama’s eyeliner was an incredible guest as it held up under so much heat and sweat. Truly smudge proof!

Favourite question to ask? “Can you stand backwards on a staircase?” It breaks every guest’s brain.

Who would you rather interview: Sean Evans or Amelia Dimoldenberg? Eating hot wings in a hot box would be a nightmare physically and mentally, so let’s get Sean Evans in the sauna and see how we go as we, and the wings, get hotter.

Silliest health fad you’ve tried? I tried those vitamin gummies for “stronger and shinier hair” but didn’t read that the dosage was max two a day. I ate three quarters of the tub because I didn’t have any lollies and it turns out you can get Zinc poisoning and you will be stuck in your bathroom for hours.

Many comedians don’t watch comedy. Do you? So much! I’m a big fan of comedy and still geek out all the time. Living in Melbourne is a blessing because we have access to phenomenal live comedy all year round, so I see a lot of shows at Comedy Republic theatre and you should too!

What’s your comfort show? I always come back to classics like Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation or any sitcom that has 22 episodes in a season, where you can switch off while watching and have a nice old time.

Where could we find you on a Sunday arvo? At Cinema Nova in Carlton with a choc top in hand.

Where can people tune in? Search “sauna sessions show” on YouTube or Spotify to watch, and follow @saunasessionsshow on IG and TikTok!
