elliot schultz's embroidered zoetropes

Some very big oohs and aahs escaped our mouths when we stumbled upon these zoetropes by Canberra designer Elliot Shultz. Traditionally, a zoetrope is a contraption that combines drawings with special lighting to give an illusion of movement (like those spinny wheels you peeked into as a sprog) – but Elliot’s hypnotising version involves turntables and embroidery, making them even more flabbergastingly fun to look at. If you’d like to see exactly what we’re on about, click here for videos of them in motion.
