Hands up if you’re an astonishingly creative, hard-working gem of a design pro who knows print inside and out and doesn’t mind swearing in the workplace. You might be the person we’re looking for to fill some very big boots as frankie press’s Creative Director.

As Australia’s award-winning niche publishers, frankie press covers frankie magazine, Smith Journal and loads of extras, such as our diary, calendar and SPACES publication. You’ll have an intimate understanding of all these brands and a vision for where they could go in the future. This in addition to a knack for innovation and all-round creative awesomeness.

The Creative Director role will involve:
-  Creative direction, of course! You'll be shaping the look and feel of all aspects
of the business, be it magazines, websites, apps, books, industry communications
and marketing. (Or where in our office the new couch should go.)
-  Brilliantly original magazine design and layout
-  A collaborative contribution into editorial content and ideas
-  Brand guardianship and innovation
-  Guiding and overseeing creative solutions for advertising
-  Managing a small team of designers
-  Taking a leadership position in the production process
-  Having fingers and toes in all the frankie press pies

Skills required
-  Conceptual thinker
-  Fluency (at the highest level) in Adobe Creative Suite is a given, DPS is beneficial
-  Resourceful and creative troubleshooting
-  Project management
-  Leadership and people skills
-  Impeccable eye for detail
-  Working to deadlines
-  Excellent written and verbal communication
-  An up-to-the minute understanding of frankie- and Smith-style culture

We are looking for someone with a head full of ideas and the drive to see them through, who’s proven their creative chops across print and digital platforms. An artistic, smart, solutions-orientated person who, above all else, has an authentic affiliation with frankie press and everything it stands for.

In return, we can offer a lovely, collaborative, super-supportive work environment amidst a small-but-happy team based literally metres away from some of Melbourne’s best coffee spots. Oh, and an attractive salary for the right person, too.
