layne dodgson and mitchell morris - apurla handcrafted guitars
aPurla represents a fresh new approach to guitar-making, handcrafting beautiful boutique guitars in Brisbane. We work with our planet to keep music alive, creating unique guitars from reclaimed/recycled timbers, and sustainably sourced local trees that we collect ourselves. All our timbers are sustainably harvested, either from problem trees that were removed and would have been mulch, or reclaimed timbers from old Queenslander homes that would have been trash. They all have a story.
aPurla has gone from humble beginnings, making the occasional custom commissioned guitar, to a series of seven handmade guitars in 2016. 2018 saw our biggest achievement yet, with a series of 23 guitars and (for the first time ever) bass guitars, which we released at the Melbourne Guitar Show. We followed this up with our special Metamorphosis launch party, where we launched our brand new showroom and our new line of handmade hemp fabric guitar straps!
We believe in living simply, staying connected to nature, maintaining integrity and finding joy in our work, while making creations that are well-designed and affordable. From tree to tunes, from trash to treasure, our handmade guitars are full of life, history and soul.
