We caught up for a chinwag with rad muso Bondshell to find out all about her first times and last times. Listen to her brand-spanking-new album, Violins, this-a-way.

When was the first time you realised you wanted to make music? I can’t point to one moment, but it’s when I was really little and obsessed with listening to the radio in the car. 

What was the last song finished for Violins? Definitely “Sea Legs” and “Reinstall”. I wrote both of those songs the very last day we had in the studio. I always feel super inspired by recording in big studios that have so much history. 

What is the first record you remember loving as a kid? David Bowie’s Hunky Dory. 

When was the last time you did something creative that wasn’t music? I cook and write and I think those are both creative. I’m not a good cook, but I think it’s relaxing either way. 

What is the first thing you want listeners to feel when they listen to Violins in full? Honestly, I don’t have any intention for what someone else feels when they listen to the music. Maybe relief? 

When was the last time you were in Australia? And when will you be back? This past February! My dream holiday with my family is to go to Australia and swim every day at 6am, so hopefully soon.
