tunesday – dorsal fins drop video for new single, “sister”

There’s also an album on the way.

Melbourne alt-pop trio Dorsal Fins has released a lush new single, “Sister”, along with a shimmering video to match. Vocalist Ella Thompson says the track is about finding solidarity by “trying to see something from someone else's perspective”. "My interpretation of sisterhood is not between only women, but between allies and people that understand, and that can stand together,” she says.

In October, the band released its first music in five years, with the single “Sugar”. The outfit also returned with a much smaller line-up, dropping from nine members to three: Ella, Jarrad Brown and Liam McGorry. And we're bloody glad they're back.

If that good news and the lovely choreography in the “Sister” video (which you can peep below) isn’t inspiration enough to get up and dance, then perhaps this will move you: Dorsal Fins has also announced that its third album, Star of the Show, will be released on May 13.
