Suddenly, that’s strange.

Falling in love is kinda… strange, right? That’s what Nigerian electronic extraordinaire Kah-Lo thinks, and she’s made just the song to suit. Having risen the charts with dancefloor starters like “Fake ID” and “Rinse & Repeat”, Kah-Lo’s latest tune is the kind more likely to send shivers down your spine with its vulnerable observance and acceptance of a little thing called love. We caught up with the rad muso to pick her brain about all the things she finds strange ahead of her bringing “Suddenly, That’s Strange” (and all her other hits) to Aussie shores very soon.

What was something that strangely surprised you about making your new track “Suddenly, That’s Strange?” How easily it came. I’m usually shy to express my authentic feelings about love exactly as it is, so I try to be clever about it with wordplay and puns. But with this, I just poured it out and I didn’t overthink it. It came really naturally. That in itself was strange. I didn’t know I had it in me.

What’s the strangest thing one of your fans have ever done? A fan tried to follow me home once. It creeped me out so much, I moved.

Strangest thing that’s happened on tour? Tour is the perfect environment for a lot of strange things to happen, but I’d definitely say getting the cops called on me in a different country.

What was the strangest part about getting married? Marriage in the modern day is quite jarring as is, and I always thought so. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much.

Strangest thing about being in love? I love myself and my own company, so being in love with someone else in its true sense is strange for me.

What’s the strangest (but also best) thing about being an independent artist? Not having the pressure. After my first release, I realised it was all quite made up and put on me. I make incredible music, and I know it will find some incredible ears – and that’s all that matters.

Strangest thing on the horizon for your 2026? Releasing a project independently. Spooky, but exciting!
