tunesday - the medics

These four boys from Cairns can evoke more emotion in one of their songs than an entire discography of most modern bands.

These four boys from Cairns can evoke more emotion in one of their songs than an entire discography of most modern bands. With airy vocals, jangly guitars and more life experience than the average teenager, every song that we've heard of theirs makes us sit up and pay attention. Foundations is the name of their debut album that just came out, and we reckon they're building some pretty solid ones. They're playing a gig at the Annandale in Sydney this Friday night and have loads of tour dates in August and September all over Australia from Jindabyne to Launceston. You can check them out here.

The haunting film clip to the left wraps up all kinds of issues that the four boys had growing up as Indigenous Australians in our nation's northern states. It's not for the weak-stomached, but if you want an insight into their world, it is beautifully made and well worth a look.
