These cute reflector rosettes will jazz up your backpack and keep you visible on a nighttime ride.

In our humble opinion, there are few things more enjoyable than a bicycle adventure on a balmy evening. Cruising through dusky streets without a care in the world is a pretty fabulous feeling, don't you think? But just because you're busy having fun doesn't mean you shouldn't keep safety front of mind - these cute reflector rosettes will jazz up your backpack and keep you visible on a nighttime ride. Practical AND stylish, our favourite combo!

MATERIALS

felt in assorted colours
reflective tape (found in hardware stores)
scissors
crimping shears
glue gun (or strong craft glue)
safety pin

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut the following from assorted coloured felt:
- 3 circles, each decreasing slightly in size. (You could use an assortment of glasses or cups as templates for this.)
- 1 triangle from a piece of reflective tape that fits into the smallest circle
- 2 small flag shapes, one slightly smaller than the other
- 1 thin strip of felt

2. Use the crimping shears to trim the edges of the 3 circles and the thin strip of felt.

rosettes-4

3. Use the hot glue gun or craft glue to affix the strip of felt and small flag shapes into a stack. Start with the thin strip on top and work your way to the largest flag shape.

4. Peel the backing off the reflective triangle and stick it onto the smallest felt circle. Then, glue the circles on top of one another in a stack, with the smallest at the top and largest at the bottom.

5. Glue the flag stack to the back of the circle stack.

6. Cut a small felt rectangle and slip it through the safety pin. Stick the top and bottom edges of the rectangle onto the back of the rosette to secure the pin in place.

Why not try making an assortment of rosettes in different colours and shapes to pin all over your riding gear?
