CALIFORNIA HERE WE COME
If you’re a fan of Mid-Century design, then please give yourself a little smack over the knuckles if you weren’t already planning to make a pilgrimage to Queensland Art Gallery for California Design 1930-1965: Living in a Modern Way.
If you’re a fan of Mid-Century design, then please give yourself a little smack over the knuckles if you weren’t already planning to make a pilgrimage to Queensland Art Gallery for California Design 1930-1965: Living in a Modern Way. Boasting around 250 items of awesomeness, the exhibit features good stuff from designers like Charles and Ray Eames, Henry Dreyfuss, Dorothy Wright Liebes and Raymond Loewy. It also includes (please contain your screaming) the first Barbie Doll and an iconic aluminium 1936 Airstream Clipper trailer. Which makes us think that we won’t be the only ones crawling through the exhibition on hands and knees, mouthing ‘We’re not worthy!’ at every new example of Mid-Century loveliness. Want to put it to the test? We have 10 double passes to give away to some lucky retro disciples – just email here with California Design in the header to win. For everyone else, the exhibition runs from November 2nd to February 9th, and it’s bound to be a doozy.
