tunesday – sandman sleeps

The South Florida outfit’s new album has been in the works for 12 years.

If you’re a fan of Kate Bush, Talking Heads, Tori Amos, The Pixies and Joy Division, then you should probably introduce your earholes to Sandman Sleeps’ debut album, Crisis Actor. The record is more than a decade in the making, which explains why it spans an array of genres, influences and styles. “The energy of this album is probably the most consistent theme,” vocalist and guitarist Cristina Peck says.

Cristina and her bass-plucking sister Alex formed the band when they were just angsty teens, but parted ways for a time. Luckily for us, they started Sandman Sleeps up again in 2019, and enlisted drummer Karsten Andersen and guitarist Zack Jones the following year. Tune into their ace new record, Crisis Actor, below.
