Perth five-piece Demon Days’s swoony track “Daria’s Smile” is an ode to two feminist icons: the song's namesake cartoon heroine, and Naomi Wolf – in particular, her book The Beauty Myth. Lead singer Bella Nicholls wrote “Daria’s Smile” as a big up-yours to the male gaze, something she first began thinking about during her years at an all-girls school, where she felt female competition for male attention peaked. “[The song] looks at the need to love and support one another,” Bella says.
