If you’re a Twin Peaks aficionado, you’ll know the value of a fat slice of cherry pie, the location of the Black Lodge and that the owls are not what they seem. You’ll also know to hum along when you see these words: der der der der der … dum dum. What you may not know is that experimental noise popsters Xiu Xiu are set to release an album covering the music of Twin Peaks for Record Store Day this year, which is all very exciting. It’s an extension of their work for the David Lynch: Between Two World’s exhibition that ran at Brisbane’s GOMA last year, and – to get a little taste – you can listen to their cover of the theme tune, “Falling”, right here. The whole shebang is released on April 16th, if you can manage to get your hands on it!
