tunesday - the griswolds interview

By Staff Writer

These four Sydney-born fellas have recently released their debut album, Be Impressive, and we can assure you they are walking the walk as well as talking the talk.

This week we had a little chat with singer Christopher Whitehall of indie party rockers, The Griswolds. These four Sydney-born fellas have just released their debut album, Be Impressive, and after having a listen to the toe-tapping tunes, we can assure you they are walking the walk as well as talking the talk. Have a gander at Christopher's chit-chat below, and if you fancy having them pep you up in person, you'll find upcoming tour dates at the bottom of the post.

What kinds of things inspired the new record? Most of the record was inspired by the journey the band has been on this past year - lots of touring and travelling, missing home and partying on the road. We were really inspired by anything and everything around us.

What goes through your head when you're up on stage? I actually try and stay out of my head when we play... I find that's when I think too much; I sing everything and play everything wrong. I just love relishing how much I love playing live shows with this band.

What is your best skill outside of music? I'm pretty good at building stuff.

What superhero do you admire the most and why? Great question! I've always had a pretty huge love for Batman. Who doesn't love a millionaire playboy that dresses up as a badass, dark, twisted bat? I like that Batman isn't a pansy (except that time George Clooney was involved).

What would your ideal Sunday entail? A beach day with a BBQ, my dog, best friends and family, sinking beers in the Sydney sun.

What's next for The Griswolds? We're currently on tour around Australia and it's going great. After that we might be heading to the UK then back to the States, before coming home for Christmas. We're also touring with The Kooks in January. Pretty excited about that.
