tunesday - slow dancer

Slow Dancer makes music that you can – surprise, surprise! – dance slowly to. But there's so much more to it than only that.

Slow Dancer makes music that you can – surprise, surprise! – dance slowly to. You could also whack it on when you need to wind down after a long day with a glass of red, or while cruising through a pastoral landscape with a pal or two on a cross-country roadtrip.

As it happens, warm and fuzzy memories of car trips through the Western Australian countryside were the inspiration for Slow Dancer, aka Simon Okely's lead track, "Took the Floor Out". It does a pretty dandy job of evoking the nostalgia, too - we can almost picture the dusky skies, warm breeze and ziplock bags full of servo lollies. Have a listen here, and if your ears are impressed, maybe treat them with his spanking new album, Surrender, which hit the online shelves just today.
