tunesday - emma russack

Emma Russack's debut album isn't full of background tunes - her songs are like tiny audio books set to music.

A song isn't just made up of pretty vocals and notes nicely arranged together. For us, and maybe it's just because we're writers, the lyrics doth maketh the man. Or in this case, woman. Introducing Emma Russack. When we were passed a little preview of her debut album a few weeks ago, we actually had to stop doing everything around us and give her our full attention. These aren't background tunes - her songs are like tiny audio books set to music. The album, Sounds of Our City, came out just a few days ago and we can't recommend it more highly. She is also doing a string of tour dates up the East Coast in late March and early April - check out the venues and days here.
