Part one in our series of frankie throwbacks: Portland photographer Carlie Armstrong has become one of our go-to gals, but now she needs a hand to keep her little project chugging alone.
Oh hello there, and welcome to a new regular part of frankie.com.au: as part of Throwback Thursday, every couple of weeks we'll be taking a constitutional down the yellowed pages of memory lane to some of the people we've had a chat to in the past.
Since we featured Portland photographer Carlie Armstrong in issue 44, she's become one of our American go-to girls for analogue aesthetics in frankie's pages. From a six-page feature with Cat Power to snapping old timers for Smith Journal, we feel incredibly blessed to have her as part of our team.
The project that we originally featured - work.place, a study of the studios in which creatives get their juices flowing - has now flourished, and in order to make it into a full-time insight into Portland's artistic spaces, she needs a little help to keep chugging along.
Carlie is currently about a quarter of the way to her target goal on Kickstarter to turn this hobby into a fully-fledged project. There are only a couple of days left for donations, so if you'd like to support some frankie folk and get some nice pics in return, head here.
