It was three long years ago when we introduced you to Serbian furniture designer Ana Kras in issue 37, and got all gushy about her simple but oh-so sweet designs. Using clean lines and shapes, Ana produced furniture that reflected the simplicity of her upbringing in Belgrade, and we wanted to one of everything for the frankie office.

Turns out time hasn't changed us all that much, because after all these months her designs are still turning us into a big ball of mush. We thought we'd check in with the lovely lass to see what's been happening in her aesthetically-pleasing world, and to ask a few questions about her photographic work.

So Ana, what have you been up to since we interviewed you in frankie magazine? Many things happened since then, but many things are the same still, too. I live in New York now, but am working on similar things.

What kind of reaction did you get from the article? It was my first introduction to Australia and it was so sweet to have people from there writing to me to say they like my objects.

What are you currently working on that you want to tell us about? I am preparing a solo show later this year, and I'm working on a new light series and a few more new furniture pieces.

Why have you called your online album 'ikebana'? A friend gave me that nickname since it rhymes with Ana, so I decided to use it for my photo work back in the days when I wanted to separate it from my design work. I find arranging photos kind of similar to arranging cut flowers.

Where were the images shot? There are some photos that were commissioned by magazines or different clients, but most of them are just my personal memories.

Is there a theme (intentional or not) that has surfaced in your photographic work? There's no theme, it's mostly about normal daily situations and about the people closest to me.

Has your photographic style changed over time? I changed countries and my daily life, so scenes in the photographs are a bit different, but I am still moved by the same things, both emotionally and visually.

Are you still involved with product design? I am. That is mostly what I do.

What has been your favourite medium to design with so far? I primarily enjoy designing and making furniture.
