this local maker teaches you how to sculpt wax into solid metal jewellery

Metal Bones Jewellery offers courses, jewels and tools (and has a cheeky discount for frankie readers).

Thinking of starting a new hobby or side-hustle in 2025? Allow us to point you in the direction of Metal Bones Jewellery – a small business based on the Sunshine Coast that specialises in the ancient art of lost wax carving.

Cassandra Djodan is the brain behind the brand. She has more than a decade of experience in jewellery design, but it wasn’t until 2022 that she discovered lost wax carving – and it completely changed her approach to jewellery-making.

The rad thing about working with wax is it’s not as physically demanding as other methods of creating jewellery, like silversmithing, making it more accessible for people with physical challenges. This, and the creativity that wax facilitates, inspired Cassandra to help other folks learn how to make their own jewellery.

Now, she offers self-paced online courses and in-person workshops that are catered to beginners. The courses teach you the process of creating organic-shaped jewellery from start to finish, as well as the basics of running your own business. (So, pretty much everything you need to know!)

Fancy dabbling in some wax? Check out the full course list over here, and use the code FRANKIE15 to nab 15 per cent off.
