the warm wall

It’s a heated wall in public toilets designed to soothe your period cramps – and as far as we’re concerned, it’s bloody genius.

Onya, Lauren Lee! The San Francisco-based industrial designer has come up with a heated wall to be installed in ladies’ public toilets – so when you’re suffering from menstrual cramps, you can go and have a good, old-fashioned lean, and let the warmth soothe your raging uterus. Lauren’s prototype uses similar technology to the kind used in underfloor heating systems, and she hopes that her design will help break down the silly notion that periods are something that we should hide. Says Lauren, “While periods are one of the few mundane experiences all women share within their lifetimes, architecture and public spaces have little to no consideration for women's recurring needs.” Truth. Pop over to Lauren’s website to find out more.
