the terraplanter is an 'inside-out' planter

Plants can take root in this nifty device without the need for soil.

Raising indoor plants should, in theory, be pretty easy: plonk a cutting or some seeds into soil then add water and sunlight as necessary. Of course the reality is much more complex – leaves unexpectedly yellow, gnats emerge from nowhere and the line between just enough and too much water becomes increasingly blurry. It’s no wonder the team behind Terraplanter got started on their rather futuristic planter. Made from specially designed ceramic, the Terraplanter lets you grow greenery without soil (or the need for constant watering). Roots grip into the planter's grooves and drink from the internal well, which slowly seeps outwards. Easy to care for and nice to look at – it’s quite a promise isn’t it? If it piques your interest, you’ll find more information on Kickstarter, where the project has already hit its funding target well ahead of schedule.
