the overlook hotel made of gingerbread

Behold, an entirely edible model of the Shining’s Overlook Hotel – complete with carpet, wallpaper and two terrifying twins in the hallway.

It may be a little after Christmas now, but it’s never too late to share a top-notch gingerbread house, and oh boy, this one is as top-notch as they come.

Painstakingly constructed as part of an annual family house-building bonanza, behold an entirely edible model of the Shining’s Overlook Hotel – complete with carpet, wallpaper and two terrifying twins in the hallway. The masterpiece stood at about 1.2 x 1.5 metres, and took approximately two weeks (and a tonne of family tiffs) to make. In fact, it took so long to meticulously assemble the edible paintings, melted lolly blood and gingerbread people that by the time it was finished it was far too stale to eat.

Not that you’d want to though, if you think about it – far better to gaze at it in awe and bask in its gory wonder. Take a look at more pics over here.
