the greenhouse diner

If you dig roadside restaurants, you’ll definitely want to check out this greenhouse diner in Guatemala City.

On a congested highway in Guatemala City is a diner resplendent with tropical flora and vintage cars. It’s called Madero Café, and it looks a bit like the kind of place the B-52s might call home. Originally conceived as a greenhouse, the diner features lots of nifty design elements, including a system that allows rain from the roof to water the trees inside. It certainly beats the pit-stop convenience stores that we’re accustomed to (and it definitely beats the heck out of Macca’s). Get the full low-down on the Madero Café design just over here.
