the artist taking cross-stitch to the streets

Ana Martin’s woollen murals are worth crossing the street for.

Lisbon artist and designer Aheneah’s work only comes into focus when you take several steps back. Using just wool and nails, the young artist (real name Ana Martin) cross-stitches large-scale images across walls and buildings. Up close, it’s a mass of colour and fibres carefully strung across a grid. From farther away, it’s a portrait of a flying girl. In case you were wondering, it's no coincidence that her artworks look slightly pixelated either – Ana’s aim is to make the craft of cross-stitch more appealing to the digital generation. See more from the clever lady over here.
