Melbourne: fancy some one-on-one time with an old-school textile master?

speeddating 1

You know how you always promise you’ll sit down with your grandma to learn how to knit, but then life gets in the way, and three years later, you still haven’t managed to whip up a tea cosy? Well, don’t fret, because as a part of the Craft Cubed Festival, Melburnians will have the chance to speed date a master fibre artist this Saturday. You’ll be able to chat one-on-one with folks specialising in weaving, spinning, natural dyeing and knitting – and some of said experts have over 40 years’ experience in their respective crafts. Impressive, huh? The event has been organised by Fibreshed (the nice types behind Knitalong), and will take place at the Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria, located at 655 Nicholson St in Carlton North. Oh, and the best thing about it? It’s only seven bucks for members, and 12 bucks for non-members. But you’d best get your skates on and book a place before they’re all gone.
