People find all kinds of ways to do good in the world. For talented lass Rukaiya, it's through her social enterprise, Sight Ceramics.
Rukaiya is a local emergency doctor and ceramicist who, in 2019, decided to combine her passions by launching Sight Ceramics. The idea for the social enterprise was sparked more than a decade ago, while Rukaiya was volunteering at The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) and witnessed the significant role that textures play for children with vision impairment.
So, Rukaiya began making and selling lovely textured ceramic pieces (including tea, coffee and sugar pots that are printed in braille) that everyone can enjoy. To top it off, all the proceeds are donated to two ace not-for-profit organisations, Sight for All and the RIDBC (now known as NextSense).
