ricotta-stuffed peach cookies

A treat for both the eyes and tastebuds.

It’s become a bit trendy these days to make desserts look like one thing and taste like another. Funnily enough, folks from Slovenia, Croatia and other European countries in the region have been doing exactly this for yonks.

One such example is the peach cookie – a delectable sugar-dusted treat that, confusingly enough, doesn’t actually contain peach. Though every country puts its own spin on the confection, it’s generally hollowed out and stuffed with a nutty filling, before being dip dyed and rolled in sugar. Alice from Sugar Salted has put an Italian spin on her family’s peach cookie recipe, opting for an orange-zested ricotta filling instead – and hoo boy does it look delectable. Give it a whirl by checking out Alice’s recipe over here.

To accompany you while you embark on your next culinary quest, we’ve cooked up some lovely kitchen merch, including three colourful tea towels and a flower-power apron. Find the lot over at the frankie shop. This tasty story was originally published on July 11th, 2020.
