pin a lucky cat to your collar

It’s not just horseshoes and rabbit feet that supposedly bring good fortune; delve into any country’s folklore and you’re bound to find a lucky animal or two. In Germany, pigs symbolise prosperity; in Cambodia, it’s fish that bless you with good health. In Japan, there’s the lucky cat or maneki neko, which has also become popular in Chinese communities (you’ve probably seen a mechanical moggie swinging its paw from many a Chinese shop counter or restaurant). It’s this golden kitty that Californian illustrator Kristina Micotti has turned into a wee pin. Some folks encourage positivity by putting on a special pair of socks or jocks, but if you reckon a feline is your lucky token, best to swing by Kristina’s shop, pronto.
