nünchi is making jelly cakes cool again

Lexie Park is reinventing this daggy dessert (and doing a heck of a job).

While our childhoods were soundtracked by the Aeroplane jelly theme song, we never considered the wobbly treats to be particularly artful. Sure, it was cool when Mum suspended kiwi slices in a radioactive green slab, but it wasn’t exactly something she’d spend hours perfecting. That’s not so for Lexie Park, the gelatine whizz who’s been busy reinventing this daggy dessert. Lexie runs Nünchi, an LA-based business turning out pastel-perfect, multi-layered jellies and cakes using fresh fruit and dazzling moulds. And while her most of her creations are super-pretty, she's not afraid to experiment with the trippy and weird, either (take this smiling snail, for example). At the moment, you can only place an order if you live in LA, though it won't cost you anything to gobble up Lexie's images on Instagram. If you feel a jelly obsession coming on, you can also join the Facebook group Show Me Your Aspics. Thank us later.
