nab an illustrated christmas card to support literacy in remote communities
Purchasing a card from the Indigenous Literacy Foundation funds the gifting of culturally relevant books to First Nations Communities.
Howdy, frankie friends. We're rather chuffed to let you know about a very special initiative we're supporting this festive season: young illustrators from Milikapiti, Bidyadanga and Fitzroy Crossing Communities have created the artwork on four rad cards, and purchasing one helps to support literacy in remote Aussie Communities.
The Give the Gift of Reading initiative is run all year round by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF), which publishes dozens of books annually, including books in First Languages. Each Give the Gift of Reading card features artwork that comes from a book written and illustrated by adults and kids living in remote Indigenous Communities. After funding the publishing of the books, the ILF gifts the books back to the Communities. Pretty sweet, eh?
By making a tax-deductible donation to the ILF, you can get your mitts on a physical or digital card and provide up to 10 culturally relevant books to these Communities. If you'd like to snag an illustrated card in time for Christmas, place your order via the ILF’s website before December 19th.
