Forget pretty colours and moving parts: Japanese creatives Megumi Kajiwara and Tathuhiko Nijima have taken pop-up books to a whole new level by cleverly adding light into the storytelling equation.

Their delicate book, Motion Silhouette, comes to life when paired with a beam of light from a torch or phone. Moving the light source back and forth makes the shadows grow and shrink, resulting in looming ghosts, approaching trains and some especially eerie forest trees. Pretty nifty, huh?
