lorna simpson art

Let's just say this: we likey a lot.

This mixed media series from American artist Lorna Simpson takes Ebony magazines from the 1950s, snips them apart, then reinterprets them into stunning works of art with a few clever swishes of a paintbrush.

Here’s what Lorna has to say about it: “These drawings and collages take the African-American woman as a point of departure, continuing [my] examination of the ways that gender and culture shape the experience of life in our contemporary multiracial society.”
