life near a nuclear power plant
This quaint village in France has a nuclear power station for a neighbour – and the residents don’t mind one bit.
You wouldn’t think that anyone would consider themselves lucky to live near a nuclear power plant, but in Saint Vulbas, France, home to one of the country’s major nuclear centres, local folks are pretty chuffed with their big, industrial neighbour. Houses in the area are cheap, and what’s more, none of the residents have to pay for electricity (which, we must admit, is pretty convenient). It does make for a rather curious landscape, though (part Simpsons, part bucolic dream) – and Italian photographer Andrea Pugiotto has captured it all for our viewing pleasure.
