You know that dreamy state between being awake and in a full-blown slumber? Your mind is trying its best to keep you conscious, but you can't help drifting slowly down into a gentle, hazy doziness. Laura Forest's photos inhabit that realm, using beautiful natural light and careful composition to make New Zealand's most populous city, Auckland, look ever so wistful.

If you've flipped through the pages of frankie issue 54, you'll have seen Laura's snaps for social enterprise Rekindle (incorrectly attributed to Laura Frost – a wee slip-up on our end, sorry Laura!). Whether doing commercial campaigns, food photography, portraiture or just-for-fun shots around town, her pics are equally easy on the eye and worth having a gander before you sneak in a few minutes of extra snooze.
