jumping cats

By Emma Do
30 October 2018

Caught leaping (or is it falling?) mid-air, these felines are captured in a less-than-graceful state.

Scientists throughout time have been enamoured with the feline ability to always land on all fours. You could say the same of Daniel Gebhart de Koekkoek, though the Berlin-based photographer is less interested in seeing cats stick the landing than capturing the hilarious look of a mid-air moggie. His Jumping Cats series showcases the impressively awkward twists and turns cats go through to turn their bellies earthward. Whether they ended up on their feet or not, we can’t tell.
