juliana santacruz herrera’s decorative potholes

Crafty lady Juliana Santacruz Herrera is giving Parisian potholes the prettiest makeover.

If you call a smoggy metropolis home, you’ll surely be familiar with the sight of crumbling concrete underfoot. So familiar, in fact, that you probably don’t even notice it, let alone see it as a canvas on which to bust out your best craft moves.

Enter artist Juliana Santacruz Herrera, who has artfully wedged plaited strips of cloth into the cracks of Paris’ footpaths and roads. Adding a bit of textile loveliness to a sign of urban decay, she's managed to make your morning stroll a touch more colourful, while also rendering the streets safe again (just like Batman, folks – only craftier).
