how to make a cool (but cosy) cowl

This ace cowl won’t only help you look swish as heck, but it’ll bring you all the warm and fuzzies you’re in need of this winter. Note: this pattern makes a cowl with finished circumference 54cm and finished length 30cm.

ABBREVIATIONS
K = knit
P = purl
sl = slip
st/s = stitch/es

MATERIALS
1 x 200g ball Bendigo Woollen Mills Whisper 8 ply yarn
4mm (40cm) circular knitting needle
Stitch marker

TENSION
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking stitch using 4mm needles. Correct tension is not essential for cowl, however stated weights and measurements are based on this tension.

METHOD
Using 4mm needles, cast on 120 sts, place a marker to indicate beginning of round and join to work in the round, taking care not to twist sts.

1st round: P.

2nd round: K.

Repeat last two rounds another two times, then first round one more time.

Begin pattern
1st round: *K3, sl 1 knitwise, repeat from * to end.

2nd round: *P3, K1, repeat from * to end.

Repeat last two rounds another four times, making 10 rounds of pattern.

11th round: K.

12th round: P.

Repeat last 2 rounds one more time.

15th round: K1, *sl 1 knitwise, K3, repeat from * to last 3 sts, sl 1 knitwise, K2.

16th round: P1, *K1, P3 repeat from * to last 3 stitches, K1, P2.

Repeat last two rounds another four times, making 10 rounds of pattern.

25th round: K.

26th round: P.

Repeat last two rounds one more time.

Repeat last 28 rounds of pattern another two times.

Next round: K.

Next round: P.

Repeat last two rounds another two times, then first round one more time.

Cast off loosely purlwise.

Finishing
Sew in ends.

Steam lightly if desired.
