grace wilson’s neighbourhood grumps

We can’t stop looking at the artist’s sour-faced characters.

Forget sculpting lumps of clay into sleek forms – artist Grace Wilson is more interested in creating a ceramic cast of pouty, scowling characters. In fact, you might recognise a few faces from your own neighbourhood: there's the old woman waiting for the bus, or the snooty lady in a state of perpetual annoyance.

The Edinburgh-based artist told It’s Nice That that her inspiration comes from her own drawings or written descriptions of people she’s passed by. You can’t help but be drawn in by the faces in Grace’s ceramics – where are they going? What are they thinking about? Meet the whole community on Grace’s website.
