Want to add a bit of extra flair to your home? Put a bird on it!

MATERIALS:
Several sheets of coloured thin card or heavy paper (you can make two birds from each A4 sheet)
Template provided
Dot stickers in different sizes – We used washi stickers (as these come in a range of lovely colours), but you could use any dot stickers! We used 7mm wide and 15mm wide
Narrow washi tape (ours was 7mm wide)
Cord or string, approx. 2-3mm wide, as long as you would like your garland to be!
Pencil
Scissors
Tape

METHOD:
1. Start by printing out the template provided (on plain paper). Cut the bird shape out and use this to draw around on your coloured card/paper. You should be able to fit two birds on each A4 sheet of card/paper. You can also choose to use two different paper colours and make an equal number of birds in each colour so that you can alternate them.

2. Cut out your bird shapes. Make as many birds as you want for your garland!

3. Now we can use washi tape and stickers to create patterns on your birds. Use a small sticker for an eye on each bird, then strips of washi tape for the tail feathers and a mix of dots and strips to make patterns on the wings. You could choose a colour theme or use lots of different colours for a bright rainbow effect.

4. Once you’ve decorated all your birds it’s time to attach them to your cord/string. Lay out one of your birds with the decorated side facing down. Lay your cord/string along the back and tape in place with your sellotape. Attach the birds at different angles, so that when you hang them they have a sense of movement. Leave around 3-4cm of cord/string between each bird. Once you’ve attached all your birds you can tie loops at each end of the cord to hang your finished garland!
