five tips to help keep you organised and ready for the new year

By Elle Burnard

Because 2024 is right around the corner.

We’re not trying to scare you all, but 2023 is well and truly on its last legs and 2024 is just about to get started – which we’re still honestly in disbelief about. If you’re like us, we can safely bet that you’ve got a couple of loose threads to tidy up before the year ends, your calendar is looking much more cluttered than usual and you still have no idea where all the time went (wasn’t it April just five minutes ago!?).

Rest assured, lovely frankie pals, you can still end 2023 on a high note and stay fully prepared for whatever 2024 throws your way since we’ve got a bunch of nifty tips to keep you organised and on top of deadlines, social commitments, work assignments and heaps more.

COLOUR CODING Yes, your high-school teachers were right, colour-coding your tasks or schedule is pretty dang helpful and can help keep disorganisation at the door. Colour coding is every organised person’s bestie, especially since it’s a neat visual system that clearly identifies important events that can be sorted in a way that’s easy to understand – especially if you’re a visual learner. For example, if you want to make sure your diary or planner is easy to read, highlight work commitments in blue, social commitments in green and so on, your future self will thank you (trust us).

BUDGET SPENDING We’ve all been there; you’ve accidentally spent your entire month’s paycheck on overpriced coffee, cute clothes, yummy treats, animal figurines and other non-essentials in one full sweep, (or maybe that’s just us?) and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis isn’t doing any of us any favours either. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered, since our super-fab 2024 diary has a page dedicated to spending every month, so you can keep track of all of your purchases and make sure you have some leftover dosh for emergencies (or if you want to grab something sweet for yourself).TO-DO LISTS are your very best friends when it comes to staying organised since they help you keep on top of everything you need to get done. We recommend physically writing everything down in order or priority rather than when the tasks are actually due since this will help you tackle the most important tasks first so you can handle everything else without stressing. Plus, it’s heaps more satisfying to physically cross out every task you’ve completed instead of keeping track of everything inside your mind, anyway.

SINGLE-TASKING Multi-tasking sounds great on paper, but we know all too well that it’s much easier said than done. That’s not to say it cannot be accomplished, but juggling different tasks at the same time can often lead to things being completed haphazardly, forgetting other important deadlines and a general feeling of unproductiveness. We instead recommend focusing on one task at a time to really nail whatever it is you are working on, which also helps reduce a significant amount of stress (which we really don’t need more of).STAY FLEXIBLE Don’t give up if you don’t follow everything said here to a T since the journey of staying organised is a hefty and long process – and the most important thing is that you don’t give up. It can be discouraging when you find yourself in a messy heap of unfinished work, constant deadlines and social events to follow through on, but we know that life is unpredictable, busy and hard to keep track of. Feel free to adapt these tips to better suit your unique lifestyle – whatever helps you out the best is the best course of action to take. Our 2024 diary is here to help you along your path to organisation but don’t be afraid to doodle and dawdle every once in a while.

Our calendars and diaries are usually snatched up pretty dang quickly, so it's in your best interest to pop over to our online shop ASAP! The diary and calendar cost $44.95 each (including shipping), but if you're keen on saving $10.90 then you can grab them both as a bundle, yay! Alternatively, you can grab all the info with our lovely stockists.
