From protests and marches platforming significant voices that speak to the importance of acknowledging this day of mourning, to music and cultural events that focus on grassroots community connection, here’s a list of Invasion Day/Survival Day events happening across Australia.
KEY PROTESTS AND MARCHES
INVASION DAY, SYDNEY/GADIGAL COUNTRY The march kicks off at 10am in Hyde Park.
INVASION DAY, MELBOURNE/NAARM The protest will begin at 10am in front of the steps of Parliament House.
INVASION DAY, BRISBANE/MAGANDJIN Speeches will start at 10am at Queens Garden, with the march kicking off at 12pm.
SURVIVAL DAY, ADELAIDE/TARNTANYA From 11.30am, Survival Day will be unfolding at Victoria Square.
SURVIVAL DAY, PERTH/BOORLOO The march will begin at 1pm at Stirling Gardens.
INVASION DAY, HOBART/NIPALUNA The march will start at 11am, beginning behind the TAC building and heading toward Parliament Lawns.
MUSIC, ART, CULTURE AND CEREMONY
YABUN FESTIVAL, SYDNEY/GADIGAL COUNTRY Unfolding from 10am to 7pm in Victoria Park, Broadway, artists like Baker Boy, Drifting Clouds, Emma Donovan, Kobie Dee and more will be performing.
OUR SURIVAL DAY, MOUNT MARTHA/BUNURONG LAND From 12pm to 5pm at The Briars in Mount Martha, musicians such as Ganga Giri, Jalgany, Djarlo Dance Group and more will perform.
BENARRAWA SURVIVAL DAY CEREMONY, BRISBANE/MAGANDJIN From 7.30am, Benarrawa is hosting a Survival Day ceremony at the bronze canoe.
MOURNING IN THE MORNING SMOKING CEREMONY, ADELAIDE/TARNTANYA In Adelaide’s Elder Park, the Mourning in the Morning smoking ceremony will take place from 7.30am.
RUBIBI SURVIVAL DAY, BROOME A selection of bands from the Kimberley, like Crest of Crows, Darkside, Bloodwood and more, will be performing.
