fashion revolution day

By Staff Writer
23 April 2015

Tomorrow is Fashion Revolution Day, when instead of focusing solely on how pretty our duds are, we're asked to turn our attention to where and how they were made.

That's a nice jumper you've got on – do you know here it's from? Not the store where you forked over your hard-earned cash, but the place it was first stitched together for the sake of your snuggly get-up.

If the answer is no, you're definitely not alone, but there's something you can do to help rectify the situation. Friday April 24th – that's tomorrow! – is Fashion Revolution Day, when instead of focusing solely on how pretty our duds are, we're asked to turn our attention to where and how they were made. Transparency from global fashion brands is the ultimate goal, alongside ethical, mindful manufacturing, plus a celebration of the farmers, sewers, and other unsung sartorial heroes who help turn out the spiffy garms that hang proudly in our wardrobes.

There are heaps of ways to get involved all over the country (and around the world!) via documentary screenings, pop-up markets, clothing swaps, Q&A panels and the super-clever #whomademyclothes campaign. Check out the full rundown on the Fashion Revolution website.
