everything myf warhurst learnt from a dress

I’ve chosen a simple, full-length dress that is in a rich, deep red colour. It’s not particularly fancy – it was a random online purchase – but it now reminds me of a time when I stared out at the unknown and decided to back myself.

In the second half of 2025, I started my own independent podcast called The Moment. For the first time I was responsible for everything I was putting out there – not just the content. I was starting my own business, I guess. I styled myself for the photoshoot, and when I put this dress on, I knew it was the one. It’s glam and bold, and it embodied exactly how I wanted to show up in this new era. I’m proud of that girl wearing this dress.

This dress makes me feel confident even when I don’t. Despite the highs of starting exciting new projects, life had thrown me some curveballs of late too, so my anxiety was through the roof. I had promised I would drop in to a friend’s glamorous book launch on the way home from the airport after working interstate, but my anxiety had kicked in and I didn’t want to go in alone. I almost convinced myself not to go at all. And then I remembered the dress in my bag. With that on, I knew I could do it. And I did. And guess what? I saw my best friend Joel – we didn’t know that we’d both be attending – and had the best night! I feel like the dress gives me a bit of magic each time I wear it.
