decolonise is a podcast about indigenous sovereignty

By the frankie team

Jaja Dare and Megan Spencer explore what Black leadership and empowerment looks like.

If you’ve picked up the latest issue of frankie, you’ve probably heard a bit about DECOLONISE, a new podcast by Jaja Dare and Megan Spencer that explores what sovereignty means for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The team nabbed the top spot in the writing and podcasts category of this year’s Good Stuff Awards, with high praise from judge Ben Law for their in-depth storytelling and impressive production – and although there are only three episodes so far, we reckon it’s well worth subscribing to. Each episode invites listeners into a conversation with First Nations artists, musicians and community leaders, who speak on their own terms about what drives them, and what decolonising and fighting structural racism means on an everyday basis. If you’re non-Indigenous, it might also make you see the world in a different light. Have a listen over on Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
