Perhaps it's the dreamlike state that a Monday back at work inspires, but these surreal snaps from French photographer Charles Pétillon are really speaking to us this afternoon.

Bundles of white balloons tumble out of unexpected places – rickety house windows and doors, remote basketball rings and out-of-the-way forest clearings – invading the surroundings with their pure white floatiness.

And is it just us, or is there a bit of a soap bubble vibe as well? Like a cleansing cloud drifting over each greying scene.
