berkley dapper animal illustrations

There are some seriously under-loved animals in the art world. Take the sea otter for an example: possibly one of the most profound, utterly adorable creatures but they're often overshadowed by things that swim with a little more grace, like those god-dammned dolphins.

There are some seriously under-loved animals in the art world. Take the sea otter for an example: possibly one of the most profound, utterly adorable creatures yet often overshadowed by things that swim with a little more grace, like blue whales and those god-dammned dolphins.

Put that clam-clawed creature into a bow tie and a bowler hat though and you have possibly the most memorable critter print around.

This is what Portland artists Ryan and Lucy do, and they then sell them at penny-pinching prices here (or if you're in Melbourne, pop by Lenko to nab a print in real life). Some of them feel like a surrealist take on The Wind In The Willows with everyone from sloths to hedgehogs depicted as the dandiest creatures in the forest.
